On our way back from West
Wales, Naomi and I broke the journey at Chirk and spent two delightful days at
the Caravan Club site at Lady Margaret's Park, next to the grounds of Chirk
Castle. We know Chirk of old from our trips on the Llangollen Canal, but this
was a part of Chirk we'd not visited. Apart from exploring the local
countryside, and a day trip to the North Wales Coast, we had a wonderful meal
in Llangollen, in a tiny restaurant overlooking the River Dee. We were
starvingly hungry when we got there, and the menu outside advertised
mouthwatering items such as Pheasant, Duck, Partridge etc, and we darted in.
Unfortunately they'd recently run out of the Duck (Naomi's choice) and the
Pheasant (mine), so Naomi had the Partridge (very fiddly) and I a lovely salmon
steak, which was really delicious.
